Welcome to a Studio Mudprints Production!

Title Theme - XII's Legend XI has been missing for years and Echo is struggling to come to terms with the events leading to her sister's loss. How will Echo find the courage to press on?

Fighter Select - XII's Engine Start Echo is stirred from her quarters; the scramble alert is sounding and there's a lot of commotion outside. This feels more tense than just another training exercise. She climbs aboard XII quickly, accompanied by a squadron of pilots flying AEF-XI mass-production fighters. For a split second, she sees Millenia but the shape of her plane is all wrong. Echo shakes her head and focuses on starting XII's engines. It's time for takeoff.

Stage 1 - XII's Catapult Thick, black smoke is rising from the coastal cityscape; something has gone horribly wrong. How did the early-warning detection system fail so catastrophically that such a huge force was let through? There's no time to take off normally. All six aircraft in Echo's group are fired through the Emergency Scramble Catapult System (ESCAS) into the turbulent skies above...

Stage 2 - XII's Mystery A hastily concerted effort to push back a hostile invading force has been successful, but at great cost. Being caught unawares before it was too late proved devastating to the resistant forces taken completely by surprise. Echo and her remaining allied forces now have to determine who their assailants are. Where did they come from? Why attack by surprise? And who is leading their charge?

Stage 3 - XII's Answer A message crackles over Echo's radio; allied forces have examined the wreckage of the huge craft downed outside of Echo's home city and it was piloted by Lunar forces, the Ba'Trall. Why would the Ba'Trall want to start another conflict with Earth? An armistice was signed years ago when the Lunar colonies at war for terrestrial resources surrendered. Earth had even graciously rendered aid to the Lunar population with resources that were fought over in the first place! The answer was clear; the Ba'Trall must be stopped for good.
7.
Stage 4 - XII's Counter Attack Echo and the remaining AEF-XI fighters have rendezvoused with an airborne Jump Booster cluster to break orbit and accelerate to Earth's first moon, Luna. As luck would have it, a gigantic captured comet - and, officially, Earth's second moon since 2049, named Coma - is in transit between Earth and Luna, covering Echo's team from immediate detection. Could this be how the Ba'Trall so easily got into Earth's atmosphere? It's time to strike back at the Ba'Trall; XII's counter attack has begun.
8.
Stage 5 - XII's Arrival The Ba'Trall opposition is getting fiercer and much better armed as Echo and her companions approach Luna beyond Coma. Cruisers and battleships have been poised to repel any Earthling vessels foolhardy enough to make a stand against the great Ba'Trall empire. It will take blinding speed and surgically-precise attack strategy to reach the Lunar surface and strike back at the heart of the Ba'Trall menace. Echo opens the throttle and dives in to break the line...

Stage 6 - XII's Judgement Down to just 2 craft and deep within enemy territory, XII and the last remaining AEF-XI fighter have made it to the Lunar capitol, Tel'Lenatth. Echo remarks that the Ba'Trall welcoming committee might be troublesome. Indeed, thousands of anti-air batteries, hundreds of aircraft and an impossibly huge reinforced fortress looms on the horizon. The final mission for Earth is about to begin.
10.
Boss Theme - XII's Target "I-impossible! This ship shouldn't even exist!" Echo is dumbfounded. How could such huge enemy ships have come from seemingly nowhere? The Earth will surely fall if vessels like these aren't dealt with swiftly. Echo steels her resolve and grips her flight controls tightly. "I won't lose!"

Stage Clear - XII's Victory Echo is victorious, and blasts ahead to XII's next objective.
12.
Final Boss Theme - XII's Nemesis "You'll never defeat us! The Earth will bend and we'll be victorious!" The Ba'Trall Emperor is sure of his words as the radio transmission crackles and fades. With one final, massive strike, Echo shouts, "I will never let my beautiful planet fall to a scourge like you! For my sister too, I'll never lose!"
13.
Ending Theme - XII's Return Flying had never been so quiet for Echo. The soft chiming of the radar cursor locked onto a trans-orbital jump cluster was only just audible as Echo became lost in thought. "Where are you, Millenia? They never found XI. Not a scrap of wreckage. No black beacon. Could you have gone to Mars? Europa?" A sense of sadness sweeps over her, and tears fall down her cheeks. The empty space around XII flashes through a spectrum of brilliant, impossible colors and patterns as Echo passes through the jump. In no time at all, she's back over Earth. She's home.

Scramble XII is a Shoot 'Em Up video game* following Echo, the pilot of the Advanced Mesospheric Fighter "XII". Years after the disappearance of the Prototype Exospheric Fighter "XI" and her sister, Millenia, Echo is thrust into battle against an even more powerful, sinister force that has swiftly attacked 2060 Earth.

*Game does not actually exist, but it would be pretty sweet though, right?
